Key Achievements

Key Achievements:

NDWA’s effort towards achieving its objectives and mission:

  • Nepal government has ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities- UNCRPD  (27th Dec, 2009). This was a result of joint advocacy of National level Disable People Organizations (DPOs), where NDWA is a  Steering Committee member of Human Rights Treaty Monitoring Coordination Committee (HRTMCC).
  • Through the continue  advocacy on reproductive health  of Women with disabilities, Supremecourthas issued special directive order to the government to ensure   reproductive health rights for WWDs (28th july, 2010).
  • Advocacy and lobby work for the representation in election on constitutional assembly.
  • Addressed the issues of WWDs as emerging issues in CEDAW shadow report.
  • NDWA has established its local Chapters in 17 district (out of 75) and 65 self help groups of WWDs covering 31 districts with increasing membership.
  • Establishment of Well equip at central level, two regionl level offices i.e in Morang in the Eastern Development Region and Kanchanpur in the Far Western Development Region of Nepal.
  • The issues of WWDs have been started to be addressed in other sectors such as government, civil society, Alliances and INGOs by the advocacy and lobbying of NDWA.
  • NDWA has been running Rehabilitation Centre with homely environment to violence against women with disability. Through this center more than 1000 WWDs already utilized the facilities and job placement, self employed, starting marital family life, operation and therapy, reintegrated in their family and society.
  • Evolved to prepare National Action Plan (NAP) for peace building process jointly with of Peace & Reconciliation Ministry & civil society as well as in new constitution making.
  • Personal counseling and referring for legal counseling for more than 100 survivors of violence women with disabilities.
  • The media has started to given space for the Women with disability issues.
  • NDWA is guided with Human resource, finance and administrative policy as well “SMART” software for accounting management.
  • The family and society has started positive behavior and attitude toward Women with disability due to providing training for enhance their capacity, self employment, skill development as well as supporting for starting income generating activities. In this way, more than 300 Women with disabilities are engaged in their different income generating activities.
  • More than 1000 girls\Women with disabilities got the scholarship by the advocacy and lobby in district education office and others relevance education office.
  • NDWA has got land donation by guthi (1Ropani) at Kathmandu as well as one Kathha by individual donation at Biratchock, Morang.
  • Gradually increase partnership project with government, International Non-government organization(INGOs)
