Focused Program of NDWA

  • Advocacy and Awareness Raising:

    Increase & strengthen participation of Women and Girls with Disabilities to formulate and implement policies for employment opportunities, access to education and health, a barrier free environment and social security. Advocacy &raise awareness to ensure WWDs rights as a Fundamental Rights in New constitution.

  • Health

    Raise awareness on available services and on specific WWDs health issues. Promote access to free health services

  • Education

    Promote access to free formal & non-formal education and appropriate education environment (barrier free, qualified teachers). Find scholarships for WWD’s higher education.

  • Representation & Participation:

    Promote meaningful participation of WWDs in social, economical, legal, political, cultural and other spheres

  • Economic Empowerment/Livelihoods:

    Provide vocational & skill development trainings for WWDs and theirparent through income generating activities and entrepreneurship. It has been supporting to self-help groups in community level, district chapter’s member & general members who are living with poor economic condition.

  • Capacity building:

    NDWA has focused to build the capacity of WWDs in gross root to National level to be empowered for advocating to get >their rights and legal provision through Training of trainer, Leadership development, legal awareness, orientation on UNCRPD, gender & disability, disability & inclusive development as well organizational development (OD).

  • Rehabilitation Center:

    NDWA has been running Rehabilitation Center (Hostel) for WWDs since 2005. It has been giving priority to homeless and parentless, Victim of Violence and living with economically poor con- dition coming from village & remote area. Those who are not getting chance to get primary level of education and who are dropout from their school attainment are emphasize to contin- ue their further education. Similarly, skill based training such as handicraft, sewing and cutting, knitting cotton thread, boutique, jewelry item, etc for illiterate WWDs are providing for their economic independency. Along with this, has been providing assistive devices, coordinaion with hospital for operation & physiotherapy as per their needs. As well as, NDWA has started to coordinate with college of social work for assisting with visually impaired & severe disabilities. Beside this, it provides an opportunity for exposure in different training and workshop as per their level of education& interest. The rehabilitation centers located at Jorpati, Kathmandu. The rehabilitation centre has provided support to more than 1000 WWDs who come from different parts of Nepal till date.

  • Violence Against disabled women campaign:

    NDWA has been documenting the cases of violence against women with disabilities and also the girls with disabilities, thereby providing them legal support & shelter for their immediate and longer term rehabilitation. Moreover, NDWA Jointly advocate with different women & legal organizations to file the cases in the police and the court, and also encourage/technical backstop for victimized WWDs to do so. By involving in the KRITIKA which is itself a campaign Women’s Campaign for Social Cultural Transformation to end violence against women through cultural activities.
