Project Kicked-off on GBV in Budhanilkantha Municipality

The Nepal Disabled Women Association (NDWA) has officially launched its new project in Budhanilkanth Municipality to address gender-based violence (GBV) affecting women with disabilities. The kick-off meeting, held on July 17, 2024, was attended by 42 participants, including key figures such as Deputy Mayor Anita Lama, various Ward chairpersons, Tulsiram Aryal (the chief administrative officer of the municipality), and members of the Disability Coordination Committee (DCC), as well as officials and employees of NDWA and OPD members from Budhanilkanth Municipality.

During the meeting, Deputy Mayor Lama emphasized the importance of the project’s positive impact on the target group and assured full cooperation from the municipality to ensure the program runs smoothly. Ayushka Shrestha, the Project Coordinator, provided an overview of the project’s activities and plans, which are set to continue in Budhanilkanth Municipality through 2027. President Tika Dahal also underscored the project’s objectives, highlighting its focus on enhancing access to justice for women with disabilities who have experienced gender-based violence. The project will be implemented in collaboration with CBM Global.
