The Nepal Disabled Women Association (NDWA) organized a two-day training for its members with the aim of providing information about the international treaties, conventions and laws made by the Government of Nepal for the rights of persons with disabilities on 22 and 23 of August. The training was attended by more than 30 people including members of NDWA and representatives of organizations working for the rights of women and persons with disabilities from the three districts of the Kathmandu valley including Kailali, Bardia, Makwanpur, Kavre Tanahun.
NDWA has organized training to increase the capacity of its members and rights activists working on disability rights by providing information about international conventions signed by the government of Nepal and national laws and regulations related to disability rights. In the training, the participants were informed about the Disability Rights Act 2074, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the scope of work of the Nepal Human Rights Commission.
