The three-day third teacher training on Universal design for Learning has ended.
This training has been organized with the aim of helping to achieve learning achievement by using educational technology based on Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The training target children with learning difficulties to achieve their learning goals, diversify teaching methods and facilitate addressing their needs.
The aim of the training is to help improve the learning achievement of elementary level children and develop the capacity of teachers to localize the universal design for learning and bring about its widespread use.
Under the Leveraging Existing Accessibility Resource in Nepal- LEARN project, Nepal Disabled Women Association (NDWA) in partnership with World Education Inc. has given this third phase training to 28 teachers from 14 schools in Bagmati Province to improve the language and reading skills of all children with disabilities including children in the elementary grades. Out of 28 participants, 6 women with disabilities had participated. Earlier, teachers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Kavre were trained.
The LEARN project is funded by All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development (ACR GCD), a partnership of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), World Vision, and the Australian Government.”
Before training for the teachers, a five-day Training of Trainers (TOT) had been completed in coordination with World Education and Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD). The training is based on the manual prepared in collaboration with the CEHRD as well.
In the training, teachers were trained on disability and inclusive education, early screening and individual educational plan, integrated curriculum, curriculum diversification, learning difficulties, its identification and learning strategies, universal design for Learning and its principles, disability and technology.
