Accessible trauma-informed care training in Madhesh Province

A province-level five-day training on accessible trauma management and counseling for women with disabilities and other stakeholders has been started in Janakpur  Madhesh province.

Twenty-two women from four districts namely Siraha Mahottari, Rautahat and Dhanusha participating in the training. Out of Twenty-two, 12 women with disability are participating in the training.

As well as representatives from the local government, civil societies organizations representatives, One Stop Crisis Management Center (OCMC), other stake holders, consultants, police officers working in the Women’s Cell participating in the training.

This training is organized with the aim of managing the trauma of women affected by violence, service provider and providing them with accessible counseling.

The participants are giving detailed information about the trauma, the tension within themselves, technique to manage the trauma, physical exercise, meditation along with presentations, and methods such as counseling were adopting in the training.

Participants in the training shared their stories and their experiences of trauma. Most of the participants sharing their stress and trauma. During the training, the participants said that they had an opportunity to learn that each person has their own story, pain hidden inside them and that it also causes a lot of trauma. The training is facilitating by psycho-social counselor Kanchan Rawat.
