Additional Inspector General of Police AIGP Sahakul Thapa has promised to include the issues of disability in the training manual provided by the National Police Academy (NPA). Inspector General Thapa said at the joint advocacy meeting held on February 20th,2023 at the academy at the initiative of the Nepal Disabled Women Association NDWA that they will initiate to include these topics in the regional training center as well.
He also informed that before making such a manual, he would discuss with the representatives of organizations working in the field of disability.
He also informed that even though there is no written document on how to deal with people with disabilities and how to solve the problem but every training class and police campaign named Police Public Partnership also talking about these issues.
Tika Dahal, chairperson of NDWA, said that the subject of disability should be included in the training manual providing police officers by NPA. During the meeting, the NDWA handed over a 9-point memorandum to Additional Inspector General Sahakul Thapa. 15 people including representatives of organizations working in the field of disability and police participated in the meeting.
