A three-days teacher training on Universal Design for learning (UDL) has started in Kathmandu.

The training is organized to facilitate addressing diversity and needs in learning using educational technology based on Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

The training is organized with the objective of developing the capacity of teachers to localize the inclusive structure of learning by helping to improve the learning achievement of the primary level children.

In partnership with World Education inc., Nepal Disabled Women’s Association has provided this second phase of training to 24 teachers of 12 schools in Bagmati Pradesh to improve the language and reading skills of all primary school children including children with disabilities under Leveraging Existing Accessibility Resource in Nepal-LEARN project. Earlier, 24 teachers of 12 schools in Lalitpur and Kavre have been given the first phase of training.

The LEARN project is funded by All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development (ACR GCD), a partnership of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), World Vision, and the Australian Government.”

The training is based on the manual prepared in collaboration with the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD).

In the training, teachers will be trained on disability and inclusive education, early Screening, personal educational plan, integrated curriculum, Universal design for Learning and its principles and disability and technology.
