In order to provide information about the seven-stage planning process at the local level, the Nepal Disabled Women Association (NDWA) organized a one-day interaction and orientation program at Budhanilkantha municipality on Friday, 9 December 2022
Speaking in the interaction, Anita Lama, deputy Mayor of Budhanilkanth Municipality, said that she is committed to address all kind of issues of women with disabilities and called the municipality office to inform them to discuss about such issues.
Anita Ghimire, vice president of the National Federation of Disabled- Nepal said that although we participated in every women’s movement but voices of women with disabilities were not heard by the women’s movement. She added that women with disabilities are most at risk of sexual violence and the state should address such a serious problem.
The president of the association, Tika Dahal, said that women with disabilities are raising the issue of women as a whole, not only in the field of disability. She said that a lot of work should be done to end the risk of sexual violence against women with disabilities and their access to justice.
Pushpa Bam, Head of Budhanilkanth Municipality Social Development Department, gave a presentation about the seven-step planning process at the local level. She informed that the municipality will address issues and concerns from the first stage of the plan. She also invited women with disabilities to participate in this process by discussing their issues and concern. Around 50 women with disabilities and non-disabilities from Budanilkanth Municipality and others participated in the orientation.
